There is a sacred serenity planted in the simplicity of daily living and those who seek it, will find it. We are inhabitants of a world that broadcasts the allure of materialism or jumboism as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. described it. The pursuit of grandiosity often creates endless dissatisfaction that obscures a haven of heaven hidden in heaviness. The essence of eminent leadership is tempered with humility, gratitude and intentional reflection. For several years, I've found tranquility and joy in visiting different botanical gardens. As a transformational thought leader, I love the healing and restorative power nature provides to my entire being.

Choosing to change is an illimitable journey and designing a life you love is a daily discipline to prevent being swept away by the boisterous waves of worry our minds tend to surf in the moment. What is meaningful to you is often the antithesis of social trends paraded by the masses. The beautification of the Bonsai miniature tree is an exemplary model of the constant attention reinvention demands. The word Bonsai means, "Tree in a tray, planted in a container or a tree in a flowerpot." It is considered art without end, where there is no finish line in sight. A Bonsai tree in Crespi, Italy is over 1000 years old, and one of the most expensive Bonsai trees sold for 1.3 million dollars. Can you see the ascension of rich awareness amplifying with your deliberate decision to protect and prune your internal landscape?

How often are you prompted by the breakneck pace of society to exceed unrealistic timelines? Yes, during extenuating circumstances executing tasks expeditiously is a necessary element to peak productivity but at what price is your peace left to pay under the duress of chronic stress? I am deeply acquainted with the effects of burnout and facilitate restoration to leaders who battle emotional barrenness that continues to build due to severe neglect of their own well-being. It is why I am a firm believer of working with wellness in mind especially leading from the frontline.

On last week after coaching a successful leader who was walking on a tightrope between life and death, instinctively after the call I began to process my emotions around what transpired in our exchange. In that moment, I seized the opportunity to design a self-care plan specifically for when I work with clients who require acute sensitivity, sophisticated intuition and cognitive skill specialization to navigate disempowering rumination. I contacted a peer support line to verbalize what I was experiencing which is an opposite action for an introvert who naturally turns inward. In a vulnerable state of sharing, the words reflected back were a powerful reminder that who I am is extraordinary. As tears flowed down my face, the gentle voice on the phone whispered the exact words my soul was thirsting for. "There are many people who could not last for one hour doing the work that you do, let alone a full week. Give yourself credit for being fully present and knowing what you offered was enough." There is a vision of victory in validation and an invitation to rise for the next occasion of overcoming obstacles stacked in our way.

Typically, at the beginning of a coaching relationship I express to my potential client, "I am not here to tell you how to live your life. I'm still trying to figure out how to live mine. What I do know is that we will grow together by confronting the challenges, conquering the giants of fear and celebrating the courage to move forward through the muddy middle space between your dreams and reality."
On this week, consider the Bonsai tree of sabotaging beliefs which will require frequent monitoring and the strengthening beliefs that can be maximized to lead authentically with audacity in the face of adversity.
